Research Opportunities for Students
Student/Faculty Relationship

2007 Summer Research Students and Faculty
One of the exceptional ingredients of the chemistry
program is the bond between students and faculty. As an
undergraduate, you can develop close research-oriented relationships
with your professors, a situation that is not available to students
at many schools. Faculty-student research opportunities exist in
many areas including environmental chemistry, X-ray crystallography,
surface chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and computer modeling.
The Chemistry Department Offers a Variety of Research Opportunities

Research students have increased opportunities for hands-on
experience with state-of-the-art instrumentation.
- Summer Research Stipends
- Individual Faculty Research Grants
- Chemistry Research For Course/Elective Credit
- Conduct Research to Satisfy Scholarship Hours
- Research for Hourly Wages
- Research Experiences at Other Institutions
- Projects available for nearly every interest!!!
Undergraduate Research is Rewarding on Many Levels

Research presentations like those shown above at the National
Meeting of the American Chemical Society
(held in Chicago in 2007), give students the opportunity
to share their success with others. Local, Regional and
National meetings are great venues for Truman students to
present the results of their work,
- Develop new relationships with faculty
- Increase your confidence in the laboratory
- Hands-on experience
- Hone your problem-solving skills
- Publish your results in the scientific literature
- Present your results at regional and national meetings.
- Prepare for Graduate/Professional School or Industrial
Employment. Give yourself an advantage!!!
- Research is FUN!!!
